While SIG models vary by class, I've seen many gun owners and potential buyers carefully weigh the SIG Sauer P365 versus the P320 Compact - not to be confused with the XCompact... or Sub-Compact.

It can be confusing when you think about all the options! In the P365 series you have the P365, SAS, XL and XL Romeo. Then there is the P320 line, which includes the P320 Full Size, Portable, Compact, Subcompact, M-17, M-18, RX Full Size, RX Compact, Subcompact with Rails and more!
With so many SIGs to choose from, I can see why the P320 Compact vs. P365 is a topic that comes up often. Both semi-automatic assault pistols begin with a "P" followed by 300s, are designed for concealed carry, and are available in 9mm.
The most notable difference between the two guns is size. Although the SIG Sauer company makes two types of carry guns, they approach this issue in different ways.
The P365 is closer to the size of a pocket pistol, while the P320 Compact is smaller than most service pistols. The P320 Compact is from the Glock 19 school of compact pistol design.

The P365 is 8 ounces lighter, about 2 inches shorter, and half an inch heavier. Seeing them side by side gives you an idea of the difference very quickly. If side-by-side comparison is not an option, carrying them in a holster will certainly do. The P365, by its very nature, is free to carry concealed.
The P320 Compact is hard to carry, but easy to shoot. The larger Compact frame allows you to hold more shots, the more shots you can hold, the better your shooting will be. It also has an M1913 extension rail - a great option for many modern pistol buyers.
If you go the P365 route, you're limited to 9mm, while the P320 Compact offers 9mm, 40 S&W, and 357 SIG as caliber options.
Naturally, the larger P320 Compact holds more ammo than the P365, and more ammo is better than less ammo, right? The P365 has a 15-round extended magazine, while the P320 Compact can carry up to 21.

The P320 Compact has an excellent Picatinny rail that allows you to mount lights, lasers or training equipment on it. As a weapon mount light enthusiast, the rail definitely makes a difference.
The P365 has a proprietary rail that only other accessories can be installed on. As with small guns, there is a limit to the size you can prepare.
Which gun should you choose? Well, I can't answer that question for you, but I can show you the questions you should ask yourself.

At just over 1 pound fully loaded, the Sig P938 is among the lightest. what does that mean? It is alive and flowing. Light but doable.
I have countless compact and sub-compact pistols that I carry every day and fire every week. Of all the guns I own this size, the P938 is one of the funniest and most accurate shooters.
I attribute this to the trigger and comfort of the frame. The beaver tail allows me to hold the gun in the air. It may be the quality that allows me to control the 9mm bullet well. It doesn't hurt that that beaver tail makes the gun feel like an extension of my hand.

Compared to my Glock 26, the socket of the P938 seems to be weak. This may be due to the tracking slip on the short rail, but the P938 is a dream to shoot. It can also be due to ergonomics.
I could go on and on about the feel of this gun, but one thing that sets it apart from my other guns is reliability. Most different days I run at least 100-200 rounds through the gun. I can say with confidence that in the four years that I have owned this gun, this little gun has not failed on many trips.
